ABOUT OFOG

Ofog Trio was formed in Malmö, Sweden in 2021. The members write  instrumental music in neo folk style. These musicians love the sound of acoustical instruments, and they create a tapestry of harsh and soft sounds as well as intricate harmonies.  The fiddle resonates with the flute and the guitar, and they take turns in carrying the melody. Listeners are invited to explore the delicate melodies and arrangements.

Ofog means that you do not obey orders, but do pranks every now and then. Although the music is based on tradition, the group members feel free to improvise both in composition and in playing.  One foot in the nordic tradition and one foot in contemporary music. Give the tune an unexpected twist just for the fun of it!

Ida Eriksson  is a folk/world/roots musician based in Malmö who plays the instruments violin, nyckelharpa, clogfiddle, viola & electric violin. Growing up in a suburb to Stockholm called Kungsängen she was early in contact with local traditional players of the nyckelharpa, accordeon and fiddle. Her main genres are Irish and Swedish traditional fiddle music but growing up she was constantly surrounded by jazz and classical music which  has had an impact on her playing. As a musician Ida is above all known for her tone, her soulful, virtuoso, groovy playing on the fiddle as well as for her contagious joy of playing. In 2020, she won the title of World Champion in Clogfiddle. Ida also has an extensive background studying at some of the greatest music schools in Sweden. Today she teaches at the Music College in Malmö, the Cultural School in Lund and as a private tutor.

Anders Hallbäck has a broad musical background that spans most genres. Folk music holds a very special place in his heart ever since he first visited Bingsjöstämman in 2003. Guitar is his main instrument in Ofog but Anders also plays fiddle, nyckelharpa, mandolin and mandola and to be honest all other string instruments as well. Anders has been writing songs professionally for 25 years and he’s also teaching this craft as course director for the
Singer/Songwriter course at the Malmö Academy Of Music. As a music producer he has worked closely together with folk music groups such as Trio Wolski, co-producing, mixing and mastering their albums. A fun fact is that Anders also has been touring playing the nyckelharpa (keyed fiddle) with opera singer Rickard Söderberg.

Magnus Rydlöv is a flutist, singer and guitar player living in Malmö, Sweden. Magnus earlier focused on jazz, but is now dedicated to merge folk music with other styles in not expected ways. For his compositions he uses flute, traverse flute, whistles, clarinet, guitar and mandolin "because changing instrument always give you new ideas" Magnus is the director of the Cultural School in Skurup, where he also teaches flute and clarinet. He states that "Three is the ideal number when you play music. It gives rich opportunities and variations in voicings, and in the same time there´s only two people to get mad at. Perfect!"
